If you have a heavenly voice, a fabulous pencil stroke, a style worthy of a writer, nothing prevents you from offering it, rather than monetising... :) Capitalism has also done this : to make us forget the gift (of self, of time, of attention...). It has made us individualistic, full of a factitious ego, and therefore terribly lonely. Start by saying hello to your neighbours with a smile, do things for free, and you'll get a lot more than what capitalism pretends to give you. ;)
@Michele Santullo Nothing here says you can't work toward improving your art. But whether or not you are good is not the point. The point is the journey!
@Muse of course! :) But if you don't make progress, then there is no journey!
I'm a bit confused why everyone is talking about money and capitalism. Why does hobby have to become work? Why everyone thinks the only point of improving is making money? Where is personal growth and satisfaction then? Take me: I've been learning about plastic model painting. No one in their right mind would buy an already assembled and painted DIY model, but I'm still satisfied with how much I learned compared to day one, and there is so much more room for improvement still! That's what makes it interesting!
